Mineral water vs purified water: what DEOSAI actually delivers
People in Islamabad and Rawalpindi often search for mineral water when what they really want is safe, reliable drinking water. Here is the real difference, and why it matters for what ends up in your glass.
Mineral water and purified water are not the same product, even though both are sold in bottles and both are safe to drink. The difference comes down to where the minerals in the water come from.
What makes water "mineral water"
Natural mineral water is drawn from a protected underground spring or source, and it carries the mineral content that source naturally contains. Regulators generally require the water to come from that specific, named source and prohibit adding minerals back in afterward. It is as much about the origin of the water as anything else.
What makes water "purified water"
Purified water can start from any source, including ordinary municipal or ground water. It is then treated to remove dissolved solids, chemicals, heavy metals and microorganisms, most commonly through reverse osmosis. Because reverse osmosis strips out minerals along with everything else, many purified water producers add a measured blend of minerals back in afterward, a step usually called remineralization, to restore a clean, balanced taste.
Where DEOSAI fits
DEOSAI is purified drinking water, not natural mineral water. Every 19 litre bottle passes through nine treatment stages, including reverse osmosis and a dedicated remineralization step, and is produced under ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 22000:2018 certified systems, licensed by PSQCA for bottled drinking water. You can see the full sequence on the Our Water page.
We are upfront about this distinction because it matters. Calling purified water "mineral water" would misrepresent what is actually certified and licensed, and DEOSAI's entire approach is built on water quality you can verify rather than take on faith.
Does the difference matter for safety or taste
Both categories can be safe and pleasant to drink when properly produced and certified. The practical difference for most households and offices in Islamabad and Rawalpindi is less about the label and more about consistency, certification and delivery, all of which DEOSAI documents openly rather than asking you to take on faith.
